The children arrived, dressed head-to-toe in red and gold. The classroomwasalsoprepared fortheoccasionandwesettleddowntosome code-breaking maths tasks linked to Chinese New Year.
We then welcomed children from our Early Years department to join the Year 6 and to share our learning. It was fantastic to hear the younger children talking about rats and their dragon dance. We showed the children our topic books and our Chinese Dragon designs. There was a positive buzz in the classroom and it was really exciting to have the Early Years classes with us.
Later in the morning, we sampled a range of traditional Chinese snacks. The spicy seaweed was a little too spicy for some, however the prawn crackers seemed to go down well!
Working in small groups, we spent the afternoon producing some elaborate Chinese Dragons and thesewerepresentedinourCelebrationAssembly.DrHopejudgedthedesignsandourwinnersreceivedaprizefortheirhard work andcreativity.
