GCSE students at The Quest produced a great set of results this year. Particular congratulations must go to Quest’s top performers, including Charlie Hawkins who achieved an astonishing three 9s, three 8s, and three 7s, Ayaan Adil who got a 9, seven 8s and two 7s, and Ashay Rajeev Patel who achieved a 9, six 8s, two 7s and two 6s.

Charlie is now going on to study A Levels in Maths, DT, Physics and Art with a view to becoming an architect in the future. He said, “I’m pleased but honestly, I have mixed emotions! I’ve done well throughout but I’ve done better in things I didn’t expect to do well in and I’ve done worse in things I expected to do well in!”

Ayaan, who wants to pursue a career in Computer Science or Law said, “No matter what anyone tells you, you can always do better than you think. If you want something, you’ve got to go for it. My first mock results weren’t that great – I got 6s – but I got some mentoring from a teacher that really put me back on the right path. I was just revising and studying as much as I could after that.”

Ashay is moving to Riddlesdown Collegiate (another school in The Collegiate Trust) to study A levels in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science. He said, “The teachers at Quest are very helpful and always want you to do the best you can. They’re very kind. They always look out for you. I’m pleased my hard work paid off!”

The excellent performance of most students at The Quest Academy provides them with the option to now make informed choices about their future educational paths. For many, this includes progressing to Quest6, the academy’s Sixth Form, continuing their seven-year educational journey at the school.

Cayla-Rae Batchelor and Ramiz Cobo each achieved an impressive mix of 8s, 7s and 6s. Cayla-Rae is staying at Quest6 to do study Maths, PE, Sociology with a view to going to university afterwards. “The community here is really welcoming and the teachers are really helpful. There’s lots of one-to-one support and you can make friends easily. The extra-curricular stuff is good and there are lots of things to help students.”

Ramiz says, “Honestly, it’s been fun here, but the last few months have been really hard work. It paid off at the end though. The environment is fun but people around me pushed me to work harder. My friends were all quite competitive! We all wanted to do well.” Ramiz is staying at Quest6 to study Business, Spanish and either History or Psychology. “My advice to younger students it to just practice past papers, let your teachers mark them and learn that way. Rinse and repeat everything.”

Abdi Mahamud who got a 9, an 8, a 7 and six 6s wants to pursue a career in Software Engineering. Of his time at Quest, he said, “At first, I found it difficult but as I moved on, I realised that they were being hard on me for a reason: To help me succeed. If I could do it again, I would have revised earlier… even during Year 10. If I’d have done that, I’d have got even higher grades overall!” Abdi is staying at Quest6 to study Maths, Applied Science (BTEC) and English.

Head of School, Thomas Beecham said, “Congratulations to the Quest Year 11 Class of 2024. Your commitment and perseverance through the past five years, despite numerous challenges, have been remarkable. You are celebrating achievements that match the highest standards ever set by any student group at The Quest Academy. We are excited to welcome many of you to Quest6 and assist others in determining their future paths. Congratulations on your well-deserved success!”

Executive Principal Andy Crofts said, “Congratulations to all our students on receiving their results today. We are eager to welcome many of you back to Quest6 to continue your educational journey. To all others, we extend our best wishes for your future endeavours.”
