To immerse students and consolidate their learning, Year 7 students visited Battle Abbey in Hastings. Despite the wet and windy conditions, the students had a wonderful day exploring the abbey and touring the battlefield.

The Excellence team used this opportunity to extend students’ knowledge of this important period of English History and to develop understanding of religious studies and geography. Additionally, it was a fantastic opportunity for the Year 7 tutors to get to know their tutees in a different context. It was lovely to see our students so engaged in their learning and particularly their surprise at the weight and sheer size of the weapons and armour in the museum. 

The behaviours, focus and enthusiasm of the Year 7s was commented on positively by both the staff at the Abbey and the general public, and the teachers present were incredibly proud of how the Year 7s represented our Collegiate.
