The final of Riddlesdown Young Musician 2021, took place on the 25th November in the @RC Theatre. It was wonderful to have students playing ‘live’ music to a real audience again.  Following last years Virtual competition, students submitted audition videos at the start of term and were selected for the final through ‘live’ auditions. Our judges for the evening were Mr Cameron and Miss Kennedy, who had the difficult task of selecting our winners.  The standard was very high across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

From the 16 finalists, Matteo Garibaldi from College VI won the competition playing a piece by Liszt on piano.  This was closely followed by Oscar Sigee, who was KS5 Runner Up, also playing piano. Our KS4 Runner Up was Dennis Clark, Year 10 Aquila, playing electric guitar and our KS3 Runner Up was singer, Alice Connolly, Year 7 Phoenix. 

Many congratulations to all the finalists, it was a wonderful evening of music making.   Auditions will open again next September, so keep practicing!
