This Thursday 9th December, Year 11 GCSE Dance students and Year 12 and 13 A level Dance students will take part in a `Devising Choreography workshop led by leading professional Dancer Freya Harris.

Freya is an experienced professional dancer and freelance dance artist teaching , performing, and choreographing for a variety of UK Dance companies. Currently touring with Tavaziva Dance Company after graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Alongside studying at Laban, Freya was part of the BalletBoyz Dancers Course working with artists including Anna Watkins, Jason Mabana, Kerry Nichols, Joss Arnott Dance and others. Freya also completed placements with Fabula Collective working with Travis-Clausen Knight and James Pett and shadowed a creative process with Theo Clinkard and Candoco Dance Company.

Freya has choregraphed for various platforms across the UK including International Youth Arts Festival, Lift Off Dance Festival, Ignition, U.dance, A.P.T Gallery Event (Perception) and Berkshires Young Dance Artist.  

Freya also teaches Contemporary and Ballet across various settings from young children to professional. Some of Freya’s teaching includes professional and company classes for Tavaziva Dance and FundFreelance Dance, teaching workshops for Primrose School of Dance, Tavaziva outreach and education workshops, teaching for National CAT students at Swindon Dance, Trinity Laban including degree students as well as having taught on their auditions, open days and summer.

Our Dance students at Riddlesdown will be working with Freya to experience and experiment with a variety of choreographic tasks to help develop their skill set for the Choreography component of the GCSE and A Level Dance qualification. We are very excited as a Dance Department to continue to offer external professional Dance workshops, establish our connections with the current Dance industry in the UK and offer our students the invaluable experience of working with leading Dance industry professionals.
