Our first Culture Day of the year was hosted by College VI during the Spring Term. College VI students took up the opportunity to come into school in casual dress, with many wearing clothes from their own cultures. This was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity and vibrance of our student body, which is one of the things that makes us so special. Ria from Year 12 said, “It was lovely to see everyone taking part in culture day by dressing up in cultural clothing and representing where they are from.”

College VI students also hosted a bake sale throughout the day, which all students were invited to, featuring foods from students’ different cultural backgrounds: some sweet, some savoury, some bought, some homemade. Anjali from Year 12 said, “The culture day bake sale presented me with the opportunity to explore various popular desserts from all over the world enabling me to learn more about everyone’s culture! It was great that students from across all Colleges got involved”

Through donations and money raised in the bake sale, we were able to collect over £450 for our chosen charity, Save The Children, who work to support young people across the world. Students from all Riddlesdown colleges were in attendance and helped to raise these funds through purchasing a range of food items.
