To support their studies of Islam and the importance of what it means to be Muslim, Year 3 visited the local mosque. The children began by taking their shoes off before Imam Mohammad spoke about the history of Islam and the different features of the mosque such as the minaret and the mihrab. The children experienced the ‘Call to Prayer’ before the Imam recited a passage from the Qur’an. After that, children toured the mosque and then learnt more about the Five Pillars of Islam. When children returned to school, they were able to discuss the parts of a mosque in detail, and created some beautiful Islam art tiles.
